Hey there,
it’s been a while once again. I still want to continue maintaining this blog, even though my frequency of writing has become less and less random. It still does not mean that not anything is going on in my life. I have been actually been training more than for a while.
I have decided to take part in a trail running event in the Alps, i.e. Transalpine Run – in this case I and a friend of my decided to take the small variant that is provided this year – so called “Run 2”. I’m so excited – now I’m trying to run about 75 – 100k each week. Unfortunately the vertical training is pretty hard here in Bremen, so I have to figure out some replacing exercises.
The second running challenge will happen in about a month and a half, namely Internationaler Lüneburger Heide-Staffellauf & Ultra-Marathon (https://www.lueneburger-heide-staffellauf.de). I have registered myself for the 100k ultra running event, and I must say I’m a bit horrified at the same time as I am equally excited. This is probably part of my aging process – one wants to tests one’s limits as long as it somehow is possible.
To get enough training of long duration I’ve decided to do 2-3 longish runs every week (from 21 to 33 km) with some lighter weeks in between. During the final week before the event I’ll probably skip the training and concentrate on the recovery from the training. I also have to think about many things that weren’t relevant when preparing for a marathon, like what to eat and drink during the 12 – 15 hours the run will take. At the moment the longest run I have ever made is 50k so it will be a huge challenge for me anyway.
I’ll try to write more specifically about my training during the following weeks to get also some of the process documented for myself. Until the next time, keep on running!
