Hi there,
it’s time for a small tech update – as you probably are aware of, I’m a big Apple enthusiast since a longer time. That’s why it is not a great surprise that I decided to hit the order button and get the brand new Apple Watch Ultra. My experiences of Apple Watch are from the past 3,5 years and this is in total the third model I’ve used. My previous Series 4 was previously worn by my wife and I sold it now for a small sum of money, because I prefer not to have any unused devices in my locker. Anyway, I’ve been mostly satisfied with my previous watches. The Series 7 served me well for over a year, but the thing I didn’t like was the low battery life. I lost some workouts because the battery died and unfortunately Apple Watch cannot seem to be able to restore a workout that was interrupted.

On the first look at the delivery package everything seems typical Apple. It’s a very stylish package, with less plastic (like they’ve promised) than previously. As a person that lately has been dreaming of mountaineering, the images on the packages are very tempting and make one feel like a great explorer and adventurer.

With Apple Watch Ultra I hoped finally to reach a state where I don’t necessarily have to recharge the watch on a daily basis, but I’ll return to this topic a bit later. Let’s get started with the unboxing and the first impressions. My watch arrived with the blue-gray-colored trail loop band, which in the first place has a very nice feeling on the wrist. The watch is obviously huge, but thanks to the band, the size does not really bother, even though I have a very small wrist.

And there it is! The setup did take a while and also some actions were required (Apple Pay cards’ activation, the eSIM switch from the old watch to the new one), but afterwards one could say that all the previous apps were there and also working nicely – thanks to the big display it no longer feels an unpleasant task to type a message on the virtual keyboard.

I will return to the actual use of the watch in the following part of the story that will hopefully be ready in a few days. Until that I’ll gather some further experiences of the watch so that I can provide as realistic a picture as possible.
See you next time!
