Hi there,
a couple of weeks ago I was confident that my training program and health were proceeding to a desirable direction. How wrong could I be! The previous five weeks have been a horrendous experience as I have been suffering from a severe bronchitis. I still do not feel 100 % healthy, but I really hope there won’t be any big setbacks. It all started with a high fever and gradually my breathing became more and more cumbersome. At first I hoped there would be no need to consult a doctor, but in the end I gave up and visited one. Ever since that I have been there several times. In other words there have been hardly been any workouts or training during this time. What a huge disappointment!
In about four weeks I should be in Amsterdam and join my friends for a marathon, but at the moment the mere thought seems to be too hard. I still hope to recover enough to be able to run and finish the race, but if one is realistic and reasonable, it would be the best bet to skip the race and try again next year. I still haven’t found out, whether it would be possible to postpone the participation by a year, but let’s see. After one has planned and scheduled the life with the race in mind, it is a really hard thing to reset everything. On the other hand I don’t want to take any big chances that could jeopardize the participation at future running events or even a full training.
The spirits are at their lowest point for a while, but at least I’m still alive and there still is hope I recover enough until the race. I’ll get back to the blog soon, now that I finally am feeling a bit better. Until the next time – Byebye!
