Hi there,
I have wanted to write a short post already for a couple of weeks, but somehow there does not seem to be enough time at the moment. Our work at the garden is gaining the full pace once again and naturally I have been actively doing workouts (and also a bit of work). A few days ago I realised the marathon start only is few days from now. There really is not much to do at this stage, but try not to exhaust oneself too much. Our new greenhouse will arrive tomorrow and I must say I really would like to finish it before the weekend, but let’s see. At least from Friday I won’t do anything exhausting, but save my breath for the marathon.
My goal for the race is pretty simple: to continue with a positive marathon attitude and a bit quicker pace than about half a year ago, when I ran in Oldenburg. This time it would be nice to finish below 03:40, but let’s see. It will only be an intermediary target before approaching the next real target (to finish below 03:15 and finally under 03:00), but those two targets are not extremely probable to be reached this year, but only after a moderate increase in the mileage and in the quality of the training.
At the moment I cannot say whether there are any pacemakers in Cuxhaven, but if there are I’ll try to keep up with the 03:30 pacemaker if possible, and if not, then at least take care the 04:00 pacemaker won’t overtake me. Today’s last long run before the marathon gave a really confident feeling and I can say that I’m in a better condition than since a couple of years. Now I only want to maintain the positive trend and build on that.
This week will be nothing special, as I have participated on a marathon event over 20 times already, but I will try to keep everything as normal as possible, maybe drink a bit more in order not to be dehydrated. Also I won’t do any workouts with a high intensity, just a few light exercises to keep the machine running. ;-)I’ll return at least with the race report. Have a nice week everyone and enjoy your workouts in the wonderful spring weather!
