Towards a new running year

Hey, it’s me again after a short break. Lately haven’t had that much to write or to comment so I’ve been mainly concentrating on the work or other hobbies than running. I have experienced the same phenomenon previously after the year’s running events have been accomplished and the motivation to run suffers from the exhaustion etc. Gradually I start to feel like running again, but I want to start carefully to prevent injuries.

This year I want to take part in the new year eve’s run here in Bremen. The Brückenlauf in the summer was such a nice event that I want to support the same organisation even though I am not a big fan of winter runs in general.

I probably won’t be able to reach for a new best time on the 10k run, but I would like at least get a more satisfying experience than I have done during the past two years, i.e. to reach a time of 42 minutes or below at 10k. This would be a great opportunity to build up for the next year and the greater accomplishments. Even though I still would not like to say it aloud, maybe it’s best to do it anyway: my ultimate target is to reach a marathon finish under 3 hours.

To be able to set clear and realistic targets, I have to start to follow a training plan once again. It simply does not work for me to have some random interval training units with some tempo and long run workouts, but I will need a more strict plan to follow in order to get the required discipline and through that to reach the target of enhanced performance. From next week I intend to do 4 – 5 weekly units preferably with some strength training, at least at home some own body weight exercises or something similar.

As you can see, the plans are great and I really need to follow a good plan and to stay healthy in order to have a realistic chance. Until the next time, have fun!
