Hi there,
The following race is scheduled: the 26th marathon for me will be next week in Oldenburg, Germany (https://oldenburg-marathon.de). The benefit of this event compared to many others is that I hardly know the town since I’ve only been there once before. The pain during the marathon run is somehow more tolerable when you don’t know the neighborhood exactly.
My target is to keep up with the great training mood, i.e. to get a bit better result than in Otterndorf about 2,5 weeks ago. That should be a doable target, if only I stay fit. It’s surprising how much better I feel about running now than a few weeks ago. One really needs moments of success to keep motivated.
The Oldenburg marathon route seems quite interesting, the first part of the run occurs on the rural area, with the race start set at Bad Zwischenahn. The final ten km will be run in Oldenburg downtown so when one feels tired, it’s possible to hope for motivating cheering.
As long as we stay in October it is also pretty certain that the running conditions will probably be good for a marathon. At least no temperatures over 20 degrees Celsius should occur.
At the moment I’m so excited I hardly can wait. Maybe I’ll post some of my excitement still before the race.
Until the next time!
