Hi,
it’s been a while since the latest post. One reason to the quietness has been a slight change in our life. We figured out we would like to have some extra activities and fresh outdoor life so we went off and rented a little garden near us. It has been a lot of work, but for a computer nerd it has been really refreshing journey to get the hands dirty and do something physical.
My training has also slightly suffered from this change, but I’m confident I’ll get back to the right track after a while, when a balance is attained after the change.
On last Sunday it was once again time for one of the highlights of the year here in the region, namely the Vahrer-Seen-Lauf. My expectations were very moderate after a tough winter and I just wanted to get a good feeling about the running and get started towards the races of the fall.
My target was to run at a steady pace of about 4:30 mins/km. When I stood on the starting grid ready for the start I felt even that target was going to be too tough, as the weather was really warm on Sunday, about +24°C. I decided I would try to keep up with the target pace and go on as long as possible with that.
The start echoed in the lovely Sunday morning and off we went. I didn’t want to rush among the first ones in order to avoid being overtaken too many times or having to overtake too many other fellow runners. During the first kilometres my pace was about 4.35 – 4.55 mins/km, but I felt pretty bad so I felt this was the best I could do.
The race proceeded in the beautiful and green premises of Vahr in Bremen, but I couldn’t really enjoy the sights and the weather, as I was running too quickly considering the present running condition. In the end I was about one minute slower than my target was, but this was OK still. I am really to get started again. At the moment it seems my next marathon will probably be Bremerhaven Marathon. at the beginning of August, so the next thing will be to get into a training program once again.
Happy training to all of you during the best running season!
