Break from running and weight gain

Hi there,

I encountered the first disappointment of the year 2017 first thing in the morning, when stepping on the scale after several weeks’ break. I was well aware of that I might have gained some pounds after having been unable to train for several weeks due to a prolonged flu. On top of that it has been the holiday season with many-splendoured sweets, bakery etc.

The truth is that I have gained over 3 kg after October, and that’s something I want to get rid of as quickly as possible. At first I should, however, get healthy in order to get back to the normal workout track. I have now abandoned the thought of doing any races for a month or two. The next bigger target will probably be Hannover Marathon at the beginning of April. I’m still not very worried about the weight, but it is surprising how easily this has happened. When you have been training for years by following a certain pattern, and after you suddenly cannot follow the plan, it is very probable that there will be challenges with the weight.

Well, now I’m at least aware of the issue and can start doing something about it. 🙂 Some battle spirit, more reasonable nutrition and lots of running will be my recipe. 😉
