Low motivation

Good Evening,

The past few weeks haven’t been especially good with regards to the training. After the marathon that hardly was a success I have been suffering from a melancholy, and partly lost the motivation for the running. This has to do with the fact that I have been partly ill and could not go running regularly. This is depressing and unfortunately the process feeds itself: if you don’t do any running, after a few days you probably don’t feel like running a lot more.

After having caught a little cold I figured out I want to get completely healthy before starting again. I went for a little run on Sunday, but the feeling was still a bit depressed. My voice is still partly gone, and I hope in a couple of days I’m able to start again. Now it seems I really would need some experience of success in order to get to the right track again.

I guess every runner encounters not only sunshine, but also deep dark days with “keine Lust zum Laufen”. For me it is now unfortunately the latter one that counts at the moment. My strategy is to start with the running even though the right feeling is not there, but to go for a jog and do some running and see whether that helps. The workouts for the next year are just about to start, so no reason for panic. Just get healthy and gradually back to the track again. 🙂
