The recovery from my latest running accomplishment, Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel Marathon, is now proceeding. The first few days after the race were painful as always and this time I didn’t want to go running for a whole week. On Sunday I finally went running for the first time after the marathon. The legs felt very tired and in the beginning of the run it seemed like I wouldn’t want to run my normal easy run pace. On the other hand after 5k the running felt a bit lighter and I ran the last kilometres with a bit quicker pace. Maybe due to this grind I got a small flu afterwards. Nothing too bad, but this meant a small additional break from the training in order to get well as soon as possible.
Today I have finally started to think about the future gradually. I fetched a training plan from the web site of Runner’s World. The next target will be in 12 weeks, the second run of the Winterlaufserie here in Bremen. My target will be to run 10k for the first time ever below 40 minutes. My main weakness at the moment is the lack of high-intensivity workouts (interval training, fartlek and tempo runs). I really have to push myself to find the strength to follow the program. However, this time if I stay healthy I want to give my best shot, because the older one gets, the more difficult it gets to enhance one’s speed capabilities. This will be a really hard challenge for me, but the motivation is there.
tschakka!
