Tonight the training program suggested I should do a tempo run. Without this kind of trainings it’s hard to develop so I tried to force myself to do a great training, after all there only are a few weeks until the next race.

At the beginning of the workout the feeling was rather good, the weather was brisk but not too chilly. Maybe the wind could have been a bit lower but all in all the conditions were pretty ideal for a round in Bremen. I started with a short warmup – only about 5 minutes this time. Then I picked pace and wanted to run about 5k with the steady pace (a bit more slowly than I’m doing in a 10k race). Tonight the running was, however, pretty hard. I could not run without having a few interruptions for lighter breathing and in order to keep my running technique even distantly acceptable.

In the end I eased up a bit during the final km so that I would not push my body to a total stiffness. Admittedly I hardly make any cool down stretching which I hope won’t be a hurdle in the future when one gets older and the recovery gets slower and slower.

Tomorrow I will run a round with K. with a peaceful tempo so that should provide a good basis for recovering from tonight’s exercise. Let’s see how the status will be at the weekend and whether I finally can put some more effort to the running without causing too much pressure on the body after all the illnesses lately.

After the run it was time to enjoy some well-deserved ice-cream. 😉
